Don't get rid my stuff, Mommy! Posted on
September 3, 2008
One day, I was cleaning Casey's room and saw some of her toys, she didn't play much. I told her I am going to donate to goodwill her toys especially the musical
toys and clothes that didn't fit to her anymore. She was okay with that and I am glad that it's not that hard to explain it to her.
When I was trying to load the stuff to the truck, Casey saw her keyboard
instruments, she didn't want me to get rid of them. I guess she wasn't ready for this especially to her any musical instruments she has. This is the stuff that I wanted to get rid of, it's so noisy, the pitch
didn't sound well to my ear...arrgh!
It came to the point Chris and I have to hide it from her or put in a place where she can't reach it. We're so mean!
We unloaded the stuff including her keyboard, she was sad and she said bye bye keyboard and then I was feeling very guilty about it.
I explained it to her and then she said, okay with sad voice. Every time Casey saw the goodwill trailer, she'll say, Mommy gave my keyboard to goodwill. Chris and I
stare at each other...feeling guilty. That was last year.
And now just this year, I get rid her wiggles guitar. And this time I didn't ask her permission. She wasn't using it anyway. It takes lot of space in to her toy
box.
She didn't notice it until she was watching Barbie and the Barbie was playing guitar and she run right away to her room and looking for her guitar. Oh oh, I'll be in
trouble to my daughter. She asked me where's my guitar I said I get rid of it and I said sorry to her. Every day she keeps bugging me for her guitar.
To make it up to her, we went to thrift store to see if there's guitar for Casey. Chris and I can't find guitar but Casey did. It's Hanna Montana guitar and of course
it's a musical guitar that needs battery. Casey loves to sing, loves to play musical instruments. And now she has her new favorite musical instruments, the Hanna Montana guitar.
Casey has no problem getting rid of her stuff unless it is her musical instruments. Just liked her rocking chair we got from Michelle. She's not using this stuff,
thought to give it to goodwill. I asked her and explaining her, she's now a big girl and this rocking chair is getting small for her. And I told her, there's a baby out there might use it. She said okay and she
went to her room and brought skirt. She said, it is not fit to her, she want to give it to baby. I said Okay!
I learned a lesson not to get rid of her stuff especially WITHOUT her permission. I admit I was wrong. It's her stuff and I have to respect it. I still have to learn
more!
