New Year's Resolution & things I look forward this year My New Year's resolution this 2008, to learn to say "NO" and of course in a nice way... (lol) I think what I have been doing is always say yes when I have wanted to say is no. I think it is wrong. I became dishonest to my own self. I think it's kind of difficult putting yourself in the situation agreeing to do something that you didn't want to do just to please to someone or try not to offend. Here are a few things that are on my mind that I am looking forward to…I look forward to applying for American Citizenship this year, (Lord willing). I want to see myself driving….I never dreamed of learning to drive…I think driving was the last thing on my mind. For my 3 years here in California, I taught myself to adjust to the lifestyle here in order for me to appreciate the place (my new home). I taught myself to accept that I have to learn the things that I thought were not really necessary. Anyway, I am so thankful for having Chris and Casey in my life. They are my life, my happiness…I am nothing without them. They made me complete, as a wife and a mother. What a dream came true! Pregnant this year…? We don’t think so. For now, Casey is enough for us but I would love to have baby boy someday (God willing). Another thing to look forward for the year 2008 is to finish my English class. The more the class is approaching the more I get scared. Anyway, I would love to see myself talking English more often with confidence. And try to be more open and vocal. I am hoping and praying that Chris still be working at Informatix. Last one, The most important thing of all to look forward for this year and the coming years, good health for my family here in California and Philippines. May the Lord be with us always and bless us all!
New Year's Eve at Sorenson Residence
Good evening, sorry I just uploaded the pictures from the last New year's eve. I've been busy... I've been busy the last few days, seems like I was always running out of time... here's my diary! Friday- I went to work. I was so tired when I got home. I would love to go to bed right away but I couldn't. I have a few things to do. I made lumpia and freeze them! Took shower and then sleep around 1am. Saturday- Saturday morning, I was running late to work, got up at 8:20am. I didn't have chance to eat. I usually eat rice with tuna before going to work but not this time. I just had a sip of hot chocolate. Good thing, my boss offered me an omelet at 11AM or I would be starving. I left work 4:30PM. As always, I was so tired when I got home from work (Lol) so glad to finally relax at home. At 7pm, I cooked the beef for the stuffed pepper. When I am done with it. I started to make bistek. When I'm finished with all the cooking, I did some cleaning. I headed to bed at 12 midnight. One thing about me is even how tired I am, I have to read or write something in my diary while lying in bed. I decided to sleep at 12:56AM. Sunday- We went to Auburn to celebrate Casey's birthday with her Lola & Pop pop. We got up early for church. I am glad we made it to church. It's been awhile we haven't gone to church. I couldn't remember when the last time we went to go church was. Anyway, God is good. He makes everything in order. We had a wonderful visit with parents. Casey got her presents from her Lola & pop pop. She got pretty pink tops, Dora panties, Lego blocks and play dooh. She was happy about it. In the evening, I made the first layer for Casey's cherry cake. I was just going to make the second layer that night but I'd run out of eggs. I just decided to wait to make the second layer of the cake the next morning. Monday- I got up early. I know today was a very busy day for me. Casey and I made one quick trip to store to buy eggs. I needed it for the cake-the second layer. I made yema balls at the same time. It takes time to make yema balls and involves a lot of stirring. But I have extra egg yolk with no use for it. I just don't like just to throw away the egg yolk, so I am making yema balls. I made pancit/noodles at 3:30PM. I started do the frosting at 4pm. I made cherry cake for my Princess. I prepared everything...set up the table. Give Casey bath etc. At 5pm, I finally realized I hadn't eaten yet since morning. I just had half cup of hot chocolate and that's it! I saw my cup of hot chocolate left un-emptied. It's not hot anymore...what cold chocolate! At 5:15PM, I took a quick shower. When done taking shower, back to kitchen and prepared everything and ready for party! I ate a lot and so good to eat.... the party was over at 9pm. We headed to bed at 11pm.. Tuesday-I woke up Casey’s cry at 1:30am. She was crying and won't stop crying. I asked her, why she was crying, is there's anything she want? She told me, she want water. I grabbed her water next to my bed. She sipped and then she saw her new Dora pop up toaster set which she just got on her birthday. I was sleepy at that time but I managed to play with Casey in a little while. She finally got tired playing her toaster and now she wants me to read a book for her. There were 5 books on my bed side. I read all of them for her. She was yawning when I was reading the last book and I too was yawning and can barely read the words. When I'm through reading the five books for her, I told her, time for us to sleep. I explained to Casey that we really need to sleep. I shut off the light and we lie down and we both went to sleep very fast! I woke up to the noise of Casey's toaster. When she saw me moving, she told me, "Mommy not dark anymore, sun go up, wake up Mommy!" I suddenly glanced at the clock and it was 10:30am! I don't remember when Chris left for work. He usually gives me kiss before going to work but anyway, I was so tired and trying to catch up for the few sleepless nights. Casey & I got up off the bed and she went straight to her room and started playing. I went to the kitchen, boiled water and then joined Casey playing with all her toys that she just got on her birthday. Casey and I were enjoying playing the play dooh kitchen set. I spent time with Casey playing....trying to make up. I know I've been very busy yesterday preparing for her birthday and didn't get a chance to sit down and spend time with Casey. Casey wants me to assemble her activity desk that she got from her Uncle Aaron & Aunt Jassy. I did assemble it for her and she was very happy with it. We played for little while and then I prepared breakfast for her while she was busy & excited with all her new toys. I got a chance to turn on my computer at noon. Chris arrives at 12:30PM. He took a day off just so we can take care of my English class. I needed to get new slip form from the counselor as proof I passed L50. As promised, Chris assembled Casey's TAFFY! She loves to ride taffy/pony and she doesn’t want to go out. She just wants to stay home. But we needed to go to ARC for my slip form & books. When we were at school, I met the counselor and she told me that the one I enrolled was in a high level, maybe I will find it difficult. She advised me to go down to L50 but the recommendation on my test result was L310. Chris and I decided to try that class since I am already enrolled. I will try one week, will see what I feel about the class then if I find it really difficult and not ready for that class yet, I will drop the class and will try the L50. We went to Arc bookstore and purchased my books and then went home at 4:00PM. I got 2 books, the one book has 5 CD's and the other one has 1 CD. I've been reading the book till 2:52AM. I enjoyed reading the book and didn't realize I spent reading it the whole night. I finished reading the one book. I was so glad to know new words; I feel very sleepy but would like to write something in my mini diary. But then I decided I will write a poem...I was very happy with all the words I use and then I decided I will make it a song instead of a poem and then I did quick glance at the clock and time for me to sleep. I really need my sleep. Chris will be up any time now... (lol) Sorry folks this is really long...I'm in the mood to write or should I say I am in the mood to talk. I don't talk a lot but in writing I do! Wednesday- Today I just want to be lazy ...don't want to do anything but I have class at 5PM! Thanks for reading and May God bless us all. First day of my class Good morning, I attended the first day of my class L310. (Monday at 5pm-7pm). I was 30 minutes early when I arrive in school. I walked in to the L310 class room. There were 6 students are there already. The Professor wasn’t there yet. I smiled to some who gave glance on me and then I sat down. They were talking different language. I am not sure what languages there were using. I’m quite sure, it’s not my language! (lol) I was hoping someone in the class knew my language. Most are there were Russians, Spanish, Chinese and French. I was the only one Filipino in the class. The room started to be crowded and the Professor arrives and she greeted us with hello. The Professor introduced herself to us. I am eager to hear how she pronounces her first & last name because I am having a hard time pronouncing it. She is a German. She came in America, when she was 5 years old. She seemed nice but she is a strict teacher. It made us scared. The lady next to me was whispering me “what a strict teacher!” I just responded her with smile. The Professor was asking the students to make pre-requisites ready or slip form from counselor. And she wants it ready when our name is called. She was saying “quick, quick, quick!” I took my slip form out in my bag and made sure it is ready when my name is called. I don’t want professor upset at me on the first day of class. The professor was very specific and very clear with her instructions. No slip form or pre-requisites, she will not accept you. So, students with no slip form, they went out to get it from the counselor. She was discussing the introduction to course, Syllabus & the pronunciations. She was giving us handouts and of course we have homework. She was telling us what we need to bring the next meeting. I needed full size blank tape (old type one), recording player. This class is more on listening & speaking. We are going to read the passage & record it and the Professor will evaluate it. I am kind of excited about doing it, record my voice and listen to find out how I pronounce the words….hmmm interesting! Ok, this is for now. I will update you on Monday about my class. I have to go take shower. Casey has Doctor Appointment today. Have a good one!
3 Year Old
Casey just turned 3 last Monday. She was very excited about her birthday. She kept saying "my birthday is coming, it's getting close!" She was eager to blow the candle. Almost everyday before her birthday came, I let her blow the candle almost everyday before her birthday came. I was on the internet surfing and getting ideas on which cake I'm going to make and Casey was with me when I browsed Betty Crocker site and then saw the cherry cake. I asked her if she wants cherry cake, she answered me yes! Since then she was very excited about it and she want me to make the cherry cake right away. Anyway, I did make Cherry cake for her on her birthday. Her party went well and she got gifts & cards from family and friends. Check out photos in the photo gallery page!  Casey had Doctor Appointment on the 24th for 3rd year general check-up, she weighed 29, and she loses a few pounds. I didn't surprise if she did, she is very picky now about food. Her height was 35 ¼ inches. Anyway, everything's perfect about her development and she is doing great. Casey was just started potty trained at home last Friday 01/23/2008. She’s not wearing diaper during the day but when she goes to sleep then she have to have diaper. Chris and I were happy about it at least we don’t need to buy more diapers. We still do but probably less than we used to. The problem now is, she just likes to go to bathroom all the time and was enjoying sitting down on the toilet (lol)
Second day of my class I had fun on the second day of my class…we did activity group. I was assigned to interview one of my classmates. I did interview Inna. She was a Russian, from Belarus. She’s been here for 3 years and 7 months here in California. She lives in Rancho Cordova. It was a good interview and I was glad to get a chance to know a bit of her and got a chance to introduce her with the group. I couldn’t believe I spoke to them and I even made some jokes…it was great! There was Korean guy I was joking at him and I knew a few Korean words when I was in Korean Bible School but can’t remember those words now. Inna did interview me. She asked me what I like to do in my free time. I told her I enjoy surfing the net. She was astonished and told me "really?" it's scary!" It makes me confused of her comments. How come she scared about surfing the net until she mentioned the beach. Then I got it...I told her oh, no! not that kind of surfing. I told her surfing on the internet, updating website. I explained to her, I like doing things on the computer. Anyway, we got homework again. So far, the L310 class is not as stress as CNA and I am happy about it. I‘ll probably find difficult when it comes to pronunciation but that is the part of the class this is why we’re there to learn. The Professor told us, we can still keep our accent but the important thing is we know how to communicate well to the people in daily life and made sure the words to use can be understood by the English speakers.
