Moms game night
Posted on June 1, 2008

I was out (3/27) for game night with Mom's group. A group called Rancho Cordova cradles to crayons playgroup shortens for C2C. Every month we have movie night, game night, book club and craft night and a lot more. This was my first time to join game night with them. I am hesitant to attend because I don't know them except the organizer. I was glad she came. She wasn't sure if she can make it for game night meets up. I came first before her so I feel like uncomfortable being around with the members. They're nice and friendly. They introduce their selves and so am I to them.

Anyway, one member of C2C hosted for game night, she opens her door to host the game night meet up. She serves light snack. One member brought strawberry pie from Marie Callender. It's a good pie and I like it. Anyway, we ate first and while we were eating, they're talking about what games we are going to play. There were few members brought their favorite games so I brought mine, the scrabble! They agreed to play the Taboo games. I knew nothing about the games they were talking. As soon as they decided to choose play the taboo, I had to tell one member that I hadn’t been played taboo and knew nothing about it. Anyway, we all agreed to play taboo games.  One member explained how to play taboo before we started to play.

The taboo game is a lot of fun but lots of pressure. It makes you work your brains a little. The rules are simple but challenging. I love this game! I had a wonderful time with the C2C group and enjoyed the strawberry pie! I am hoping to join more often with them.

Peek-a-boo...
Posted on June 3, 2008

This morning Casey wanted her lady bug tent setup. I tried but don't know how to assemble. She has to wait for her daddy to do it. I just let her play with a piece of it( the door) . She was playing peek-a-boo and I was trying to take her picture. It's really hard to take pictures though when she was trying to do peek-a-boo but I got her!

I love this picture of Casey. I can't help not to share this picture. I got her smile on camera when she opens the tent door. What a perfect timing!

Two days ago, Casey and I did a picnic just here outside the apartment. The original plan was just to play outside with her Dora ball. But I suddenly suggested to Casey that how about we're having a picnic. It was a nice weather with peace and quiet environment, perfect to do it. We went back inside to get stuff we need for picnic. I prepared apple for us to eat in our picnic and water  to drink. I put them in the basket and we’re ready for picnic. I told Casey to bring her tea set toys but she just want her leap pad and also blowing bubbles to play outside and that is fine with me what ever she would like to do, it's her day! We actually had fun, it was a great day for Casey and I.

Scrabble time!
Posted on June 8, 2008

We finally played scrabble last Thursday (6/5). The scrabble tournament was played by West Sac, Carmichael and Rancho Cordova. We've been cancelling it for some reason. Scrabble and boggle are the games I used to play when I'm in high school. I used to play these with my sisters, I had fun!  Anyway, Aileen, Jassy and I decided to pay the winner $5. Luckily, I won and now I have $10, Yahoo! But before that, we had our lunch. Jassy cooked pinakbet. She is now a certified Filipina chef, right Aileen? (Lol) Anyway, Pinakbet or pakbet is a popular Ilocano dish. I hope to join you guys playing boggle this Thursday.

We were off to Chris brother's place in Rocklin to watch Zachary while his dad at work(6/7). Zachary is Casey's first cousin. Casey was very excited when I told her we are going to see Zachary and we will go swimming. Saturday morning, Casey didn't want to get up but when I remind her  to see Zachary and the swimming, she got up so quick and was excited to changes her clothes. We got there early like quarter to 8am. Casey and her cousin was playing while I am reading the novel I brought with me. I was reading the book two nights in a row and was decided to finish that day. I wasn't really impressed the ending. This is my second time to read crime novels. I didn't like reading the every details how the crime happened but I like the investigation part, and how they solve it. And of course I want to know who did the crime...(lol) I promised not to read any crime novels but saw this book when I was cleaning the book shelves and try to get rid the books that we don't really read. I thought to read this novel before getting rid of it. The book called Straight by Steve Knickmeyer. Straight is his first novel. This is about "The bomb was meant for him, but killed his wife. Anyway, we ate first and then we decided to go in the water. The water still cold about 72F but Zachary and Casey couldn't wait any longer. We spent about an hour in the water and we're done. We had fun and of course we had bunch of pictures.

What's for dinner, dear?
Posted on June 11, 2008

Two weeks ago I was looking special recipe for father's day. I wanted to cook a special recipe for my honeybunch, as I go through my recipe books, spaghetti pie caught my attention. I made a list of the stuff that was needed for this recipe. My plan is to make this for Father's day but I decided to cook it tonight because Chris wanted it today instead.

This is my first time to make spaghetti pie so I took a few shots of the spaghetti after it cooked that I usually do every time I try a new recipe. I always do this, just to keep track of how many new recipes I've made. It's fun to try new recipes, especially if it came out good and yummy! With this recipe it was necessary to use pie plate but if you notice , I didn't use pie plate. I didn't have the same size of pie plate needed for this recipe. This is really good and easy to make.

As always this is a recipe from Betty Crocker Cookbook, my favorite one! I'm so glad Chris likes it. Casey likes the crispy part (mozzarella cheese). She is not fond of hamburger but she loves to eat the noodles even just noodles alone with no sauce, she dare to eat it but I can't eat noodles alone with no sauce in it. I am not sure where she gets that from...lol anyway, we had a wonderful dinner. Hope everyone out there had a good dinner too! Have a good night!

Father's day
Posted on June 15, 2008

This morning, Casey and I got up before Chris. Casey was excited to greet her daddy happy father's day. She wanted me to wake her daddy up but I told her. We'll just let daddy sleep for now. I asked her if she could help me prepare breakfast for daddy, she seems happy to do it.

We headed to the kitchen and prepared breakfast but Casey keeps going back and forth to the bedroom to see if her daddy is awake. But Chris got up before the breakfast was ready. Casey handed to her daddy the card. And she told him, that's my card for my pop pop, I said to Casey, no, the card is for your daddy. The card for pop pop was already mailed and probably he'll get it by now.

Anyway, as we planned, we were off to Sacramento Zoo this morning. Chris wanted to spend the day in the Zoo with Casey and I. Casey wasn't quite interested, she's not into animals I guess. We had fun at zoo; I think we spent about 2 hours there. We felt hungry so we decided to head off to parking lot to get our stuff for our picnic. We had wonderful lunch at the park, not much people were there today, though we expected that it might be crowded since it's father's day.

After lunch, we headed to Funderland, which is free to get in but you purchase for the rides. Chris and Casey were enjoying the flying dragon roller coaster. Watching them in the roller coaster wasn't fun for me at all but they're enjoying. It's scary! We all had fun and we headed home at 4:30pm. We shot a bunch of pictures today, click the photos to see. Happy Father's day to all the fathers/Step-Fathers and foster Fathers out there.

Am I insomniac..?
Posted on June 20, 2008

Three weeks ago, I am having difficulty sleeping. I can’t imagine I’m awake all night till morning, not sure what to do. I had read a lot of article/tips in the past that might help me sleep. Such as, drink warm milk before bed. It says milk has components in it that your body uses to make Serotonin, a neurotransmitter which helps you sleep. Exercise 1-2 hours before bed. Take a warm-hot bath. It helps relax your body. Or read books.  It didn’t work to me at all regardless of how many times I tried. I am so desperate to know the fact that people needs sleep and seems like I am unfortunate for not getting enough sleep. One day, I came up with an idea to buy wine as a sort of solution to this problem. I get easily dizzy when I drink of any alcoholic beverages, so I though this is the best solution and perhaps this might help of my insomnia problem. It seems like it’s working for 3 days successive drinking of wine before I head to bed. It just a very small amount of wine though. I stopped drinking the wine and so glad to be able to sleep early again without even drinking the wine. I didn't like the taste of wine and I don't want my body get accustomed to any alcoholic drinks.

The earliest time that I could sleep is 11pm. That is the perfect quiet time for me to sleep. I’ll be very happy if I can follow through to that schedule every night. I was worried not to be able to function well when I’m around with  a 3 year old girl, as saying “the terrible threes”. I have to have energy to play with this fully charge 3 year old girl. Back then, I never worried about not getting enough sleep since I have nothing to worry about and no 3 years old to watch or someone to take care of. I have my own pace. I know sleeping is very essential and I realized how the sleep gives a big impact to a human body. It is essential to get enough sleep and I am trying hard the best I can to have 8 hours sleep everyday. Anyway, I am a night person but that moment, I was alarmed, it was my first time for me to found myself lying awake in bed until 7 or 8 in the morning. It’s very unusual to me. I heard the alarm goes off, that means, Chris will be up to anytime soon. I told to Chris that I can’t sleep. Chris took shower, get dressed and all that. He suggested me, to turn on computer play in a little while maybe it might help me but I refused to do it, I am not comfortable playing computer  especially my eyes that time were hurting.

I had unusual feeling, it seems like there’s an earthquake, feels like the ceiling is moving. I understand that all those feelings due to lack of sleep. I had to lie down in bed and maybe I get lucky I might fall asleep. I told him not to interrupt me if he sees me sleeping just incase. With no luck, I am lying awake and heard Chris with a little voice saying” are you awake?” I answered him, yes! He just said bye and then he take off to work. I finally fell asleep, not sure when is that happened. I woke up Casey's noise. She wanted me to get up but didn't want to. Do I really have a choice on this?? LOL., That was the first time I have no sleep at all. My sleep went back to normal until yesterday. I can't get myself to sleep again.

What I did, I watched the movie called "13 going on 30" played by Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo. This is about the pre-teen who’s unsatisfied of her life and have desire to be "thirty, flirty, and thriving". This is very funny movie and romantic. The movie was over but still I am wide awake. That was 2 am. I heard noise from the bathroom, Casey turned on the light that caught my attention, and she went pee! She went back to her room and I decided to sleep in her room too. She was sound asleep, so I went back to my bedroom. I read a couple of recipe books and then I got frustrated I can't get myself to sleep. I went to the kitchen and grabbed the wine that's in the ref. I pour just 1 ounce of wine...very little. I was frustrated that I can't get to sleep and hoping the wine will help. It didn't work this time. I was lying awake till 3:45 am, hoping I've fall asleep before Chris alarm clock goes off. Lucky enough to have a few hours sleep. I woke up Casey's next to me. I got up 8:30 am, didn't want to but I have things to do that need to be done.  I found a website that gives information about insomnia problems. It is really worth to read www.shuteye.com. I hope to be able to sleep early tonight!

Family fun-biking
Posted on June 22, 2008

We were off for biking this morning. I'm so happy that we finally find time to ride the bikes. We drove to a parking lot close to where we live. Casey was very ecstatic about bike and she seems very happy without her Mommy or daddy to push her bike to help her. It was fun and I love it. It's been a while since the last time I went for biking. As I remember, I was in high school when I am actively riding a bike. We had fun...it's a great way to start the day.

I believe biking is a great morning activity. I love biking. It is fun, healthy activity the entire family can enjoy together and I love my bike. Thank you for the free cycle. I finally have my own bike...never had it before. I used to rent bike before along with my friends in high school just to have fun. But this time is different I go bike with a purpose, to remain healthy. This is a lot of fun and we get our healthy exercise.  I'm so glad it's not required to wear helmet here when riding a bike. I know wearing helmet is for own safety. I don't argue with that. lol, I never tried helmet before and seems like it is uncomfortable. I know Chris wanted me to wear helmet, which is good role model for Casey. I hope we can do this more often! We spent an hour biking then we headed home. We take a few pictures today.
