Free cycle-1980s Headboard I have been busy yesterday so as my husband. My husband took a day-off again yesterday & without telling me about it. I was just surprised yesterday in the morning when I didn't hear any sounds from the shower. Then saw my husband still wearing his pajama and it was 7:30am. He supposed to get ready for work. He is always like that wants to surprise me. He told me he took a day-off because he needed some stuff to be done and some an errand. And this is included the free recycled thing. He said, maybe we will get headboard. he got an e-mail from the owner that wanted to get rid the headboard, and she sent some pictures of it. It looks great and we got interested especially it is free. It is 1980's queen headboard with platform storage. There are two big drawers on each side of the platform and one small door between the drawers. Great storage for linen things. It has decorative mirror. There is small storage on each side of the bed great to put jewelries or some valuable stuff. It is 80's type wood. We just waited until 1pm because according to Arlene (Owner), there is a persons supposed to pick up the headboard few days ago but he flaked on her. So, she was decided to get down the list and she'll give it to the first person who contact her with firm commitment. Since we are interested, my husband sent her an e-mail telling that we are interested the headboard. She called my husband and gave the direction where to pick up. We picked them up right away and we have it now. I tidied them up, polished them then it looks great! My husband was very tired yesterday, the headboard was big & very heavy but it is worth it. We both like it and we are very happy. We are supposed to see Michelle & Zachary today because we have been planning to bring Casey to a pool. We cancelled it due to we are both busy. I needed to clean up the patio, so we just stayed home & relax and also Chris needed to go back to get the missing boards. My daughter this morning when she got up...she was staring in the mirror of the headboard, I forgot that there is mirror on it, I wondered what she is staring at, then I realized she is seeing herself in the mirror. Will post later the picture of the headboard.
Fourth of July
We off to see fireworks last night at Hagan Park. We're there around 9:20pm. The show supposed to start at 9:45pm,I guess. We just sat down on the grass, good thing we brought towel for the grass. We enjoyed the show except the show was short. We are waiting for the grand finale but there's none...the show was over so quick. We just heard that the park will be closed and people need to leave! And now this morning, I got an e-mail from my hubby that telling the show last night was cancelled because there were about 20 to 30 young men acting unruly. The fighting had increased when the young man starts beating his girlfriend (couple fight), so at least we know the reason why the show was very short & cancelled. This my second time to see fireworks. The first one was in Lake Tahoe year 2004. It's beautiful there in Lake Tahoe...The fireworks was truly beautiful & very crowded. Chris & I had wonderful time in there. The grand finale of the show was awesome! I've even called to my family in Philippines & telling about the fireworks in Lake Tahoe...it's beautiful and wished they see the fireworks too. I had a great time and enjoyed very much! Anyway, Fireworks at Hagan Park was Casey's first time to see. She is sleepy and rubbing her eyes but at least she watched the fireworks.
Playing in the water/pool
We are off to Rocklin this morning to see Zachary & Michelle. We finally let Casey play in the pool with her cousin Zachary. At first, only Casey played in the pool, because Zachary wanted to finished watching "Lilo & stitch". Casey was having fun playing in the water, her Aunt Michelle put toys in the pool. I thought she is going to cry being alone in the pool but she enjoys instead. Then, in about few minutes her cousin Zachary joined in with Casey in the pool & have more fun! We just watched them playing in the water. Since Casey was having fun today and seems she likes it, we thought to bring her again in about two weeks or so. I am glad the swim suit fits to Casey. She got this from my dear friend in Washington. ("Ate Jeck, Thank you again for this swim suit!") We took some pictures of Casey & cousin Zachary in the pool. You may want to see View photos.
New look I finally made the final decision about the new look of our homepage. I have been changing a few times and hopefully wouldn't change again. Instead, I have to focus on updating the website. And now I have chance adding the links and fixed the broken links. I am not done of fixing yet but I am working on it. I have some old files deleted today, a files that no longer exist in the website. This way, I can easily update the site without going through to the old files. I hope you like the new look of the website. Comments & suggestions is appreciated. Just shoot me an e-mail. Thank you!
Off to Doctor's Appointment We went to the doctor today. I needed vaccinations for processing my Visa status. I had appointment at 8:45am. We were a little early today, since the traffic is not as bad as my husband thought it would be. When we got there, the office is still closed, but that is fine, now I have time for combing Casey's hair. We are in a hurry to get to Doctor's office, didn't have much time for fixing her hair. I was expecting to get 3 or 4 shots today but when we were there, the Doctor told us that I had the shots done before, but still needed a blood test & an x-ray. So no shots today. I am so happy about it . I don't like shots but I know the value of vaccinations. I am just afraid of the needle, that's all. My weight today is 94 pounds and conversion to kilo is 42.73kls. I lost 4 pounds. Usually, my weight is 98 lbs. My Doctor still remember us, it's been awhile since we saw her. The last time we were there, we talked about having baby. She can't believe Casey is almost 18 months. She is happy to see Casey, then she cuddled her. My doctor is Filipina, so at least she understands me. And I am happy about it. I am glad I keep her as my Doctor. I thought of changing Doctor when we have insurance again because her office is far from our home. But Chris told me that is fine to keep her, so that's what I did.
Reminiscing my experience in getting visa part 1-Passport I am going to share my experience in processing my papers. I just thought of sharing this because I have friend in Calbayog asked me about how and what to do for processing papers and what are the requirements. Then I started thinking about 'how do I do that anyway" .I am glad I am through with all of this stuff. And now it's my friend's turn to fall in line (long line) I just really wish she will not experience what I have experienced in getting passport. I will share the story of what happened in my next entry (Part-2) I can tell immigration paperwork is not an easy task, this involves time, money , patience and tons of papers to go through until we get what we need.
To get the visa is a lot of work. First thing, I
must have passport, here's what I need to get
passport: I made a phone call to NSO and gave my personal info. then had to go to Metro bank to wire money for payment to get the birth certificate. After 5 days later, I received my birth certificate then I found out my real birthday is July 29, but since childhood I am using "July 31" .So I have to request for correction because it will be a conflict to my other documents, and can be a problem in the future. All my documents must be accurate. I went to justice hall to get an affidavit to amend a birth record, need the signature of a Judge. good thing because by that time, my best friend was working there and few friends also are working there, so they are helping me & volunteered to be my witnesses. What a big help for me. The affidavit of amendment was settled in 3 days because the Judge was out of town. My birth certificate is not yet done because it must be authenticated by NSO, so I have to travel to Manila for Authentication. But I don't want to do that right away, First thing, I have to gather all my documents/the requirements for passport, so I can start process my papers to get the visa in Manila. Then second thing I did, is to get NBI Clearance. I went to Davinci Photography studio of my brother and have him photograph me so I can bring it with me when I go to Manila. Without knowing that my brother has been taking pictures for years for NBI clearance and from what I heard it will takes 6 months to 1 year for NBI clearance to be issued if there is any crime record. Then I went to PNP to get police clearance which is needed for NBI clearance application. But before I get police clearance I needed to get Barangay clearance first, to certify that I am not accused of any crime and I have good morals. When I went to Barangay Captain, I have to get my tax number at City hall first before Bgry.Captain would sign the clearance. Oh, if you'll notice every place I went, there is more paperwork to do (Oh! paperwork).
Here's the step in applying NBI clearance( I
have these stuff done in Manila)
Meetup-Rancho
Cordova walking group This is our first time to walk with the MeetUp group. As a beginner, we thought we cannot make it to the last especially we have our 17 month old daughter in the stroller, but we made it, wow 4 miles, I can't believe it! There was one of the member of the group volunteered to push the stroller when we are headed back to parking lot but Chris don't let him do that. That was nice of him offering some help. There were some walkers picking blackberries and one of the member of the MeetUp group picked berries and she shared some to me. It is good berries, taste a little sweet to me but it taste sour to Joanie. A lot of bikers & Joggers are there too. What a nice way to start of a beautiful day. I am glad we did it. I am so glad we joined in this group, there's a lot of fun if we walk with the groups. We are trying to do more walking now at least once a week. Walking is the best exercise .. I love to walk and I feel my body needs it. I think I breath well when I was walking this morning and I am sweating and the breeze feels good. I took some pictures from our walking to Folsom Dam, Take a look the photos. To those interested to join in to the group, here's the website of The Rancho Cordova Walking Meet up group. I think this is the great way of meeting new people and make friends and at the same time good for the body. See you there!
Birthday Update We have scheduled to join to walk with the meet up group on my birthday. I am hesitant to get up and wants to sleep some more but I want to walk, so I got up, changes clothes, prepares for Casey. I have no any plans for my birthday, just want to walk with the walking groups. And told to my husband, maybe I can treat him with a milk shake @ Mc Donald after walking since I got money from a friend of mine in Los Angeles. He sent me beautiful card with $$$ inserted. The meet up event was started @ Ambassador Park to Fair Oak Bridge. We are going to meet at parking lot, when we got there, Joan & Cheryl were there already waiting for somebody to show up. This is our second time to walk with the group and second time to see Joan & Cheryl. We finally met Kathie in person, the organizer of the group. We weren't able to meet her the the last time we walk. She seems a nice person. Then some members are starting to show up and many people today, the attendees estimated 14. The first time we walk, were only 6.There were members prefers to walk during weekdays and some are weekends, so will depends to members' schedule. The event will start at Ambassador Park to Fair oak bridge , this event will be walk on the dirt/horse trail and about 4 mile round trip. Chris and I will not be able to walk with them on the horse trail. Since we have Casey in the stroller. We just walk on the bike trail and we have Joan with us walking on the bike trail. I have a wonderful time looking the beautiful nature ,the weather is great and the place is nice. I absolutely have more great time than the first time we walk to Folsom Dam. I like the place they've choose and not going up to hill. We have pictures taken from our walking to Ambassador Park to Fair oak bridge. Check out the pictures @Photo gallery page. We got hungry when we get home, so we decided to have egg & sausage. After we eat, I uploaded some of the pictures at Meet up website. I thought of making cake for me but changed mind instead I spent my day on the bed watching movies because my legs is hurting a little bit from walking. And then, around 6pm, we decided to go to Mc Donald. When we were at Mc Donald, I got phone call from my friend Jessica in Washington. They have Calbayognon gatherings at Mancol residence. She just greeted me happy birthday and she gave the phone to Tita Sherry that is wanted to greet me happy birthday, talked to her in few minutes then she gave to Benit Mancol that wants to greet me also. I am very happy to talk to them and I am looking forward to see them again, someday. The next morning, we got up early for church and visit parents. We had a wonderful dinner with parents.
Walking from Karen's bakery to Negro bar We got up early this morning again for walking. And this time we walked beyond Negro bar. The event started at Karen's bakery to mile beyond Negro bar. We are about to cancel for walking today. Unfortunately, when we are about ready to go, Chris back was hurting. He told me, I might be walking alone, he'll just stay home. But since we RSVPed already, we went there for a try. When we got to Parking lot, he did a little walking & stretching his back while we were waiting to others to show up, he said, it feels a little better. There were 2 showed up and there were 6 more people supposed to come. We waited in a little while but it is pass 8am, so we decided to start walking. We're just walked slow and then we didn't notice we made it to Negro bar. I like the place, great for picnic. I took a bunch of pictures today and Chris took me pictures while picking the blackberries. I am having fun picking and eating the blackberries, they were very sweet. I just wish I brought plastic bag with me so I can bring blackberries at home. Maybe next time, I will bring plastic bag for blackberries. I gave some to Casey but she don't like it, she just want to play and squeeze it. Casey has a good time in the Negro bar and she enjoyed the weather, nice and windy. She don't want to go home, she is crying real loud when we put her back in the stroller and I just hold her in awhile when we are headed back to parking lot and when we tried to put her in the car seat, she don't want to be either. She want to walk some more! Chris and I were laughing because it was Casey first time to be like that. We have to bribe her by letting hold the Gatorade and that is the time she calm down and stop from crying and she let us put her in the car seat. . Oh, they were geese too. Check out the photos today at Photo gallery.
3rd Year Anniversary and counting I finally have chance to update the website. I just finished baking cookies for Chris. He thought I made cookies yesterday but I did not. And when he got up this morning and preparing for his lunch & snack and when he opened the cookie jar. It was empty, oh sorry about that Palangga. I am busy doing laundry and some cleaning forgot to make cookies for my sweetie. And also I am preparing for our dinner at Red lobster Restaurant. I want to be ready before Chris gets home so that we can leave at once for the Restaurant. Chris called me around 5pm when I am about to give Casey bath. I thought he was still in the office but he is already outside in the apartment. He left in the office early around 4:30. I wasn't expected him to arrive early. Anyway, it's a good thing so we can have dinner early and also I'm getting hungry. Three days before our Anniversary, Chris and I were talking about our coming 3rd wedding anniversary and what we are going to do to celebrate it. We are thinking to do picnic at Negro bar, where we went the last time we walked. We liked the place. Just sitting and looking around, enjoying seeing the beautiful nature. And maybe we can do barbeque there. And I suggested maybe we can barbeque sausage there since we both love sausage. Our Anniversary is Monday but we can't do picnic Monday because Chris have to go to work, the only day perfect for us to do is Sunday, since we have appointment on Saturday. We didn't make any plans on Monday to celebrate for Anniversary. Until we got e-mail from parents and they sponsor us for a dinner. Chris and I were very happy about this. While we were in the bed, we were started talking and deciding which Restaurant we are going to spend our anniversary dinner. The Restaurant that came to mind was Red Lobster. So I asked Chris if there is different menu for him to choose because I am thinking Chris doesn't like sea food. He said yes. The next morning, we go online and checked the Red Lobster Restaurant website to see what menu they have. I knew already what I going to order when we get to Restaurant. It is king crab leg..., it’s been awhile since the last time I have eaten crab. When were at the Restaurant not many people waiting, we just waited for 5 minutes. Good thing we got there early because people started coming in and we don't have to wait longer. I ordered 1 pound King crab leg and Banana bay chocolate smoothie and Chris ordered Steak and root beer. And Casey had popcorn shrimp and apple sauce that comes with it. We have very nice dinner at Red Lobster seafood Restaurant. I enjoyed the crab and smoothie and Casey enjoyed her popcorn shrimp. When Casey tasted the shrimp, she wanted to eat them all; we have to hide it from her. I didn't take pictures much, enjoying to much the foods', the waitress made mistake, we ordered 1 pound of king crab leg , she even repeated to Chris saying 1 pound king crab but in the bill showed 1 1/2 pounds, so I have to bring some home since I didn't finished the crab. I have it for my lunch and there were a couple of legs left. I will have it for my dinner and Casey have her shrimps for dinner later. Mom & dad, thank you so much for the gift. We enjoyed the gift-dinner!
The most-Tag from Jessica
The most... You have screamed: With all Casey’s
climbing on the table, crib and chairs made me
nervous and sure scream. I screamed all the
time! Water
dripping Thursday in the afternoon, I am almost done baking cookies, I moved the cookies to the wire rack and let them sit for a little while on wire rack. I turned on the computer and to check e-mails when I heard something popping somewhere in the kitchen. I thought it was just my imagination. I continued what I was doing on computer but the sound somewhere in kitchen bothers me. I stopped what I am doing and decided to check where the sound came from. I am thinking, maybe I forgot to turn off the oven. Thinking about this made me nervous...electric stuff really scares me. When I was in kitchen, the kitchen light caught my attention. There was water dripping from the side of the light. The floor was very wet. Not only in kitchen but in the dining room too. I saw some wet spots on the carpet and then soon realized the cookies were still on wire rack and in kitchen I immediately transferred the wire rack to dining table. And I hurriedly grabbed the phone and made phone call to Chris, but unfortunately, the phone is not working. It just echoed ... I can even hear Casey's voice echoing on the phone, "coco" which means cookies. Casey got excited about the cookies. I decided to use my cell phone instead. ..I was on the phone talking to Chris telling him about the water dripping from the ceiling. He advised me to turn off the lights and turn off computer.. It made me scared when he said it. My mind can't stop thinking about electric and also I wondered why the phone is not working and thought maybe it is because of this water. (It was just my thought.) Chris called to apartment office, letting them know about the water. Chris called me back to let me know that maintenance will come over to check the water. In about few minutes, I heard the door bell. I opened the door and let him come in. He went to kitchen to check and turned on the lights and he saw the water dripping from the ceiling, he said, "oh no!" he touched the ceiling and told me and he said to me, the problem probably was in the upstairs apartment and he'll go there to check. I turned on back the computer while the maintenance guy is in the upstairs. Few minutes later, he came back and explained to me about the cause of the water. He said, the guy upstairs turned on the faucet in the kitchen and went to sleep. The sink did not drain and that cause water to overflow. The maintenance guy said that it was still overflowing when he checked it. The guy upstairs was sleeping...I guess he forgot to turned it off. And now the maintenance man had to mop our kitchen floor and then he left. Chris got home early to make sure everything is fine. Chris went to office and told them his concerns about the mold and mildew. Chris came home and telling me that there is a carpet cleaner that will stop by tomorrow in the afternoon to steam the carpet in the dining room. While we were preparing for our dinner, I asked to Chris why the phone is not working. He went to bedroom and checked the phone and soon found out the problem! Casey unplugged it. I have no idea how she did it. Anyway, the maintenance stop by Friday in the afternoon to steam our floor and we are happy about it. Except on Friday in the evening when I am about to cook rice, we found our rice dispenser was very wet from the previous day and there was still water on it. I didn't realize that the water will cause damage to our rice. We have to throw the rice away and probably not use the rice dispenser anymore. Chris and I went to office this afternoon telling them that the wall is still wet and our rice was wet because of what happened on Thursday. The maintenance guy was suppose to stop by yesterday to check the wall but he didn't. And since there's no maintenance available today will probably do it on Monday. We have to go to Seafood Market to buy rice. I really don't want to go to Seafood Market today but we need rice. We went to Korean Supermarket first (near our apartment to see if they have Cal Rose rice but they don't have it. So, we decided to go to seafood and we bought our rice.
Good News Last Saturday, when we were headed to Winco, Chris told me that the Apartment fee will go up again. They just raise us this year about $15 when we sign a new lease for 6 months. And now that our lease soon to expire and we need to sign a new lease again. We are hoping they won't raise us. But they've told to Chris already that will going to raise us again in about $10-$15. But then yesterday we got a letter from the apartment office telling us that they won't raise us when we sign for a new lease. We're glad about it. The letter was brought joy to us and it was really a good news! Yeehey!
