Golfing
Posted on July 1 2009 Category: Family

Chris went golfing with his Mom at the Lake of the pines golf course.(6/26) Casey and I were there too, we watched them play golf 9 holes...although I don't golf it's really beautiful to go up to any golf course and enjoy the amazing view they have. It's beautiful there and also I got to drive the golf cart and I was very happy I tried even for just a few minutes. View Golf with Mom photos

Lightning McQueen Cake
Posted on June 20 2009 Category: Family

One of my friends from NorCal pinay asked me to make a Lightning McQueen cake for her son, Kasey. Of course, I confidently said yes, since I've made a character cake before. My very first character I made was Dora and that was for my daughter’s 4th birthday. I remembered the pressure I had on making the Dora cake not to mention the extra color and very limited tips. It was so hard to create but I'm quite happy with the result. Saying yes to Joanne on making the lightning McQueen, I was confident I could make this one because I thought it would be easier. I was right when I said a lot easier than the Dora but this didn’t prevent the pressure of completing it on time. I suggest you give at least 5 hours and have extras tips, just so you don't need to rush and this will give enough time to make the cake pretty instead of sloppy. I was having a hard time creating the #95 and can't make the lightning bolt right, if you check the picture above, it will explain a lot but still happy with the results and I always enjoy making cakes. And my daughter wants me to make Lightning McQueen cake for her 5th birthday. As usual she's excited about her birthday but it will be awhile... Anyway, we went to Joanne's birthday party. Good-bye Dad ...
Posted on June 17 2009 Category: Family

Today is the burial of my father in-law, Jim. It's so hurtful to lose someone special and to know you will never see him again. In a positive way, he's now in good hands with the Lord.

I will miss him...while I'm updating my website I remember him. He's one of my avid visitors on my website. He always visit my website and now I lost one avid reader. He is my mentor...he  helped me with my English.  I'm so glad to get a chance to know him. Dad, you will remain in my heart forever. Thank you for accepting me the way I am...

NorCal Pinay Father's Day Blast
Posted on June 06 2009 Category: Famil
y

The NorCal pinay had a surprise party for the husbands. or should I say some of them since a few already have idea about the party. This is different from the previous parties we had because on this event, the husbands were to be the star. The wives should have something special to say, sing or give to (dad, husband, father, grandfather or father-figure) Raquel went around to each table and she let everyone get a chance to speak. I thought if I'll sing,  this for sure, a surprise for Chris and it was indeed a surprise for him. I was nervous but I manage to sing till the end of the song and of course Chris knows that I am extremely nervous...

The dinner started at 6:00. we had plenty of food and drink....I had a blast...the food and the dancing was awesome. We had a blast!

The entire group put a lot of hard work and effort into our two garage sales as well as into all of the details on this event. We did it to honor and show all of our special dads how important they are and how much they are loved. View Father's Day Blast

Pre-K Graduation
Posted on May 28 2009 Category: Family

Our 4 year old, Casey, had her graduation today. She's excited about the graduation and I'm not sure if she really understands the word graduation. All she knew was her school will be finished soon and they are having ice cream and cake.

I am ecstatic when Casey heads off to preschool but I'm even more ecstatic to watch her walk across the stage to receive her preschool diploma. It is so wonderful to watch the kids receive their diplomas knowing this is their time to celebrate child's academic and social accomplishments. This is the first real accomplishment that she has had in her lifetime that Chris and I surely would not want to miss. We had a great time and I got certificate for my volunteering at my daughter's school. I didn't expect to receive recognition but I got it...hopefully this will make my daughter proud for her Mommy...lol View Pre-k graduation photos

Argentina Corned Beef
Posted on May 27 2009 Category: Family

It's been awhile I haven't visited my website and forgot to post my entry last month dated 5/27...

What a wonderful day! I have my Argentina and dried fish all the way from Philippines. Chris officemate, Myrna just arrived from Philippines and she brought me “pasalubong”.Yehey! She is Filipina. Right before she went to Philippines, she was asking Chris what I want. I told her I want Argentina corned beef. I love Argentina and the only brand I enjoy eating. How I wish there is Argentina corned beef here but can't find any.

I really didn't expect that Myrna would bring me anything but she did. I am glad and of course I am thankful for that. I always ask my friends when they visit Philippines to bring me Argentina corned beef. I remember, like the last time my friend Devy brought me “sarap chunkee” corned beef, she couldn't remember the Argentina brand but "sarap chunkee” corned beef" is really juicy and yummy too. And the “sarap chunkee” is the newest corned beef and the hit right now in the Philippines.

Trip to Malakoff Diggins SHP
Posted on May 24 2009 Category: Family

We were supposed to be camping to Malakoff Diggins. We had already reservation a couple of week for 3 days but we cancelled our reservations the day before our camping due to Chris has to work Friday & Saturday. Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park is the site of California's largest "hydraulic" mine located in Nevada City, Northern California. Since Chris not working Thursday we decided to go there anyway and hang out with our friends that went out for camping. We didn't get a chance to do camp with them but we get a chance to see the mining town, North Bloomfield in which called a ghost town.

On the way there, Chris took the North Bloomfield road. From Nevada City, travel 11-miles north on highway-49 toward Downieville. The website of the state  tells this route is not recommended. The road is so narrow and many switch backs,  dirt road but there has another route to get there to the park that is paved road all the way that I'm sure you'll enjoy more....

We visited the North Bloomfield Museum filled with memories from a century ago. While we were standing in the town of North Bloomfield, I was stunned by how well they preserve this mining town. I am pretty sure that after you and I are gone, this town will still be quietly just there...what a staid! Most buildings in North Bloomfield are original  and some are  have been recreated to give the feel of the town in the 1850s. I was enjoying wandering around the town, peeking in the barber shop, post office and bar etc... It amused me! The museum itself fascinates me....very interesting. On our way home I enjoyed the scenery...beautiful. We got home almost 10pm. We were all exhausted from the trip but the visit was a very much worth a visit! View our Trip to Malakoff Diggins
